CCF is taking a unique approach to building strong and viable relationships with the residents and businesses who are our neighbors. Step Up clients are the driving force behind this initiative. Working in collaboration with Justin Nethercut, a Baltimore native and local street artist, CCF and the community are constructing, designing, and implementing local art projects (murals) for the purpose of enhancing the aesthetic of the 25th Street area (Harwood Community) and displaying messages of inclusion and support..
The park is not currently maintained (it is an Adopt-A-Lot space and has declined over time due to negligence). People now use the park for dumping and as a haven for illegal activities, and poor lighting makes it unsafe for children to be there at night. This partnership will assume responsibility for the beautification and maintenance of the park, and CCF’s assessment of the improvement project estimates that over one hundred families will benefit from this. Hundreds more will get to witness what investment in a community can do for both the environment and its residents.
